Biography
After completing my PhD in psychology and dabbling in some applied sport psychology, I moved into learning development and have been working in the field for over ten years. Since then I have gained Chartered Psychologist and SFHEA status. As a learning developer I work collaboratively with discipline teaching staff to embed academic literacies and promote team teaching approaches across various health and life sciences programmes. I enjoy working with different kinds of learners and have developed bespoke provision for various groups including international, direct entry, widening participation, perfectionist and pre-entry students.
How can I support Learning Developers?
I am happy to share practice relating to collaborative teaching, embedded support and developing and evaluating learning development interventions. Additionally, I am passionate about qualitative research and interested in exploring the lived experiences of specific student groups. Currently, I am investigating how perfectionism influences student learning experiences and would welcome any collaborative opportunities with colleagues who share an interest in this area.
Subject categories I advise on: Academic Literacy (Reading and Writing), Assessment, Feedback and Course Design, Induction and Transition, Research Methodologies and Data Collection, Study Skills
