Grounded in Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) the Change Laboratory is a formative, interventionist, research methodology that allows communities to work jointly with a researcher-interventionist to define and deliver change in their Activity System. Although the methodology has mainly been applied to education research in face-to-face settings, it is highly adaptable to the online environment.

This lightning talk will explain the key concepts that underpin the Change Laboratory, and present an example of piloting the methodology to research the concept of co-creating the teaching and learning approach for online postgraduate courses.
